Well, if you dislike prospecting for clients as much as I do, there is a way you can develop more effective marketing strategies that will cause high quality prospects to come to you instead of you having to go look for them. In other words, you are no longer the "Hunter", you have become the "Hunted."

If you don’t have to prospect, then you won’t run into the rejection that happens with prospecting.

Here’s how you can go from prospecting to positioning!

Specialize in a specific niche — position yourself as an expert for a specific area or for a specific target market.

Specialize in only one product line for one particular category of prospect.

The result?

You now appear to be a specialist. We’ll talk about being a specialist a little further on. By appearing to be a specialist you will attract pre-qualified prospects.

Now you will attract high quality prospects that want you to help them and they will come to you instead of you having to seek them out!

This is working smarter not harder. This is so much better than taking a shotgun approach to advertising or cold calling on prospects or knocking on doors or spending hours trying to get an opt-in list built.

In today’s market people get swamped with so much information, commercials and competition, that they turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to it all. This makes your cost of advertising that much worse.

John Wannamaker and P.T. Barnum and William Wrigley all once said, “I know that I’m wasting 50 cents out of every dollar I spend on advertising, but the problem is, I don’t know which 50 cents”.

If you want to prospect online on the Internet, or in other forms of advertising, it is extremely difficult and almost impossible to separate yourself from the herd.

This means that you have to market in such a way that the kind of people you are looking for will want to come to your store/shop or website.

So instead of prospecting for clients you have to position yourself as unique in a particular category or industry, or for a specific audience or market.

Be unique and you become the leader.

So much competition makes it almost impossible to be better than the rest. Don’t try to be better – be different!
