Here’s the 4 things all articles must have to be successful and help make your site earn a profit and have large amounts of new and repeat traffic coming to your site.

1. Keywords and Keyword Phrases.

Make sure you always center on your keywords and keyword phrases. When a website visitor goes to a site - s/he might just merely browse while others are actually looking for a specific something. Usually a searcher goes to a search engine and types in the keywords they are looking for (e.g. Cadillac STS, Hypothyroidism, Income Tax Lawyer.) It could be anything they want.

The Important thing is that your written works contain
keywords that are related to your site.

For example, if you maintain an auto parts site, you must have features about cars and their parts. There are many tools on the internet that provide a service in helping a webmaster to determine what keywords and keyword phrases are mostly sought out. You can use these tools to determine what keywords to use and write about, but again, they definitely must be about your site theme.

2. Keyword Density

Now that you have your keywords and keyword phrases, use them to your full advantage. Your writing must have good keyword density for a search engine to “feel” its presence. Your writing should include at least three to five percent keyword density in its content for search engines to rank your site high in their search results. Getting a high ranking is what this format does best for a site.

Keyword density is the number of times a keyword or keyword phrase is used and the number you should have varies depending on the number of words written in your editorial. To be effective you must have a keyword density that is not too high or low. With a very high density, the essence or your theme is lost and you may turn off a reader as well as the search engines because it doesn’t read well. Conversely, a low number may be totally ignored by the search engines.

3. Good Article Content

As stated above - you can’t just riddle your writing with keywords because it must be regarded as good reading material. Your message must be able to entertain people as well as provide good information and help for their needs. It should be well written and have correct spelling and good grammar. You can use the tools found in most word processing programs.If you want people to trust you, follow these guidelines and have your theme and how you will present it, well thought out ahead of time.

People do respond well to facts, figures and statistics. Get great information and as many facts as you can. A well-researched - well-written article will boost your reputation as an expert in your chosen field or topic. As more people believe in you, they’ll trust you and your products.

4. Linking Articles

Remember, if you’re going to be submitting to e-zines and/or be contributing to newsletters and other sites, DON’T ever forget to include a link to your site. Provide a little resource box with a brief description of you and your site. Place it right after your editorial that you’ve submitted. If people like what you say, they just might click on the link directing them to your site.
